CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHIES ARE MORE CALM &
STABLE BECAUSE A MONARCHY OFFERS ADVANTAGES THAT CANNOT EXIST IN A
REPUBLIC
-
A hereditary monarch is able to unite a nation because he or she
does not have to cultivate favours or votes from any section of the
community, and is therefore able to represent all creeds, classes and
political beliefs.
-
He or she is the living symbol of a nation. All citizens can
identify with a monarch born and trained to the office.
-
He or she can be supported by all the people, irrespective of
political beliefs, unlike a president who can be elected by less
than 50% of an electorate.
-
He or she holds office for life. The office cannot be challenged
by law or election.
-
He or she, aided by the immediate royal family, can carry out a
range of duties and public engagements
–
ceremonial, charitable, military, and historic
–
which politically elected heads would never have time to carry out.
-
He or she is able to look back on centuries of history, and
forward to the welfare of the entire realm for which he or she is
sovereign. Some
‘progressive’
leaders of crown-less republics are not interested in building on
the achievements, or sustaining the principles of the culture, of
the nation, but are prone to endangering the cultural inheritance of the
past.
- He or she
safeguards against civil or military dictatorship as it denies
certain reserve constitutional powers to others.
- He
or she can use his or her enormous experience
‘to
advise and warn’
transient political leaders and governments, particularly if they
have been enjoyed the reign of a long-serving monarch like Queen Elizabeth the
2nd who has outlived 11 Prime Ministers.

A hereditary monarch is the living symbol of a nation. All
citizens can identify with the man or woman born and trained to the
office.
