The Republic Delusion is that new Utopeas will rise from the ashes of monarchies and the greatest instrument of this miracle would be communism instead it became the greatest curse of the 20th century as it ran like a plague across the world creating republics.

According to the Black Book of Communism – Crimes Terror and Repression – (1997) communism came to rule one third of the world. ‘For seven decades it haunted world politics, polarising opinion between those who saw it as the socialist end of history and those who considered it history’s most total tyranny….The Communist record offers the most colossal case of political carnage in history (up to 100,000,000 dead).'

Are people still to be found advancing the Marxist doctrine of communism in democracies? Mr. John Howard warned the 50th anniversary dinner of the Quadrant magazine that Marxism was still a very active anti-capitalist force in Australian schools, academia, arts and culture. The truth of this was borne out by the website International Socialist Resistance (publishers of Green Left Weekly) which claimed it organised Marxist revolutionary action by protest and propaganda from offices in every Australian state.
